Favorite movies πΏ
Hello everyone! School has just started and I am so excited to be back and learning again π€ but another thing I’m excited to be doing is getting more time to movie watch! So I thought I would share some of my favorite movies!
1. The Secret Garden
The Secret Garden is a timeless, all time favorite of mine. I read the classic novel and received the movie as a gift for my 9th birthday. I watched it over and over again. I love the magic of finding a place that only you know about. All the secrets Mary was finding in the manor sparked so much excitement in me when I was young. As I grow older I can appreciate and understand the characters, as well as enjoy the theme more. The appreciation for something as simple as a garden is so healing, and this movie reminds one of that.
2. Little Women
Little Women was the last movie I saw in a real theatre when it came out in January 2020, and am I glad it was! I also read this classic but not all the way through! So the twist of fate (no spoilers!) was a horrible tug on my heartstrings and I did cry so many times. A notable thing in this movie were the incredible performances by the women. Florence Pugh was especially remarkable as Amy, and made so many people change their opinions from one of loathing to endearing. Highly recommend!
3. Juno
Juno is one of my mom’s favorite movies. Micheal Cera and Elliot Page play such lovable actors in this film. It has, in my opinion, one of the most playable soundtracks: chalk full of good indie music, and tells such a real and heartbreaking story of teen pregnancy. One of my favorite parts about this film is that it contains such effortless humor. I still remember the gas station clerk at the beginnings’ lines word for word, that is how memorably funny some of the lines were. I would absolutely recommend a watch!
4. The Edge of Seventeen
I felt so much like Nadine throughout my high school career. Confused, lonely, and struggling in my relationships to others. This movie is another that is effortlessly humorous, but also introspective, important, and it can definitely also be a tear jerker. Hailee Steinfeld’s award winning acting, certainly shines through as she plays a hilariously socially awkward teenager girl dealing with a complicated family and friendship dynamic, and this is another movie I would really recommend.
5. Mamma Mia 2; Here We Go Again!
Specifically the second one; yes. ABBA may not have been around when I made it to the earth, but I certainly bopped to all their past hits in this soundtrack. I was forced to watch the first mamma Mia by a friend and while it wasn’t my favorite movie in the world, I found it endearing enough to go watch the sequel. I adore this movie. All the mother/daughter moments made me ugly cry in the theatre. I also loved Lily James as young Donna and Cher as her mother. That was literally so iconic. 10/10 would recommend, especially if you enjoy musical theatre.
That is all my rankings! If you don’t agree, that’s absolutely fine, you probably have better taste than me, lmao. But if you do; great! I’d love to hear about it π thank you so much for reading! I hope you’ll stop by again soon for the next post!
