A Break from Social Media

Image
Typically when I create my blog posts I try to keep them lighthearted, but I have just not been feeling it. A lot of the recent news in the world has been sorrowful and disheartening and that is something I desperately needed a break from.       I have previously had qualms with Instagram, from feeling exhausted from the excessive flicking through stories and posts, to the fact that it’s platform seems to encourage unhealthy, volatile, and upsetting discourse, and although my current issue isn’t one that can be fixed by the platform, I still felt deleting it would be the best thing for me to do for myself, at least for the time being.       So, for whatever reason you may be considering or already discontinuing your social media (temporarily or permanently),here are a few good activities you can do instead of being online ♥️  1. Embroidering/ cross stitching/sewing! I have wanted to begin cross stitching and embro...

I Tried to Have a High Tea Party ☕️

Image
First of all, I’d like to apologize for my absence! I actually had a blog post planned that I just straight up forgot to write! I may revisit that for next month...   But for now, I’d like to take you through how I prepared for an event!! I’d like to clarify that I don’t actually know how to have traditional “high tea.” From what I looked up on it though, it seems as if it is less of a delicate tea party, if you will, and more of a late dinner of sorts for Laborers. I set my party up this way.  First! I invited my friend over with an invite! I have a video of That here:  I was going to make this a whole video as you can probably tell, but some bits were more Difficult to film than others~ I then picked out my foods. According to info I gathered, one typically Has bread and meats at a high tea party. It is because of this that I decided to have cornbread muffin and vegetable beef soup. I also had an orange cake just for a treat.  😊   Oh, and the tea,...

Love and the Beach

Image
I know, I know; the last thing people are thinking of is the beach right now! However, I went on a trip to the beach last month with my best friend, and call me superstitious, but I did a tarot reading before I went that made a HUGE deal out of it. This trip meant a lot to me, and like all revelations I have, I wrote. I figured my gift for the holidays to you is a few of the poems I wrote while there. ❤️  (PLEASE DO NOT REPOST WITHOUT CREDIT!!! These Are MY poems and MY poetry so please do not claim it as your own.) The Ocean How could I Look at something so vast And not believe under its surface Is something mystical, magical, and wonderful? I am already risking missing Lady Aphrodite’s arrival  Donned in white foam,  By taking the time to write this poem Things worth dying to know/ things worth dying to feel  My fear of the ocean is like my fear of love I am so drawn towards it,  Yet still so pushed away. I douse myself in the waves for the feel of such ...

Last Month’s Monthly Favorites!

Image
I apologize for my lengthy absence! College is a lot more difficult than it seemed on paper and assignment after assignment has been getting away from me  πŸ˜… I’ve decided for now I will attempt to do one post a month, and for this months post I figured I’d share a few things that brought me joy recently that I purchased from Small businesses!  (If you are interested in more small businesses, I actually have a story highlight on my Instagram with a few on there at  https://instagram.com/dani_pnk__?igshid=160r48h6rvd3v  ) Most of these items are small and simple Home decor; and to begin let’s talk: Twig kids 1.Twig Kid Here is my Twig Kid! I purchased him for $20 from a local shop downtown. He is so cute! I really love his limbs and shape and I think he is the perfect little addition to spice up a space. In addition to this he is made of 100% cotton and recycled materials and make a great durable gift for kids!  You can find out more on these cuties or purc...

Modern Poetry~ ✨

Image
Anyone who knows me in real life knows I adore poetry. I have loved to write and read it since I was 11 years old, and I even took an extensive poetry course in high school.        While I do have my own quips with the extent of what i learned about it-like most subjects here in America, it is unfortunately very Eurocentric and I can’t help but hate I’m missing out on good poetry from other cultures 😩- I thoroughly enjoyed my time in getting to fully immerse myself in authors like Sylvia Plath, Linda Pastan, Percy Bysshe Shelley, and, my own personal favorite, Rumi.        However, I feel as if poetry is widely accepted more as a bygone art rather than something that is, currently. That is unfortunate, and so I took it upon myself to explore modern poetry books and options!         And where else to start but Rupi Kaur? The world of poetry was absolutely transformed by this amazing woman. She brought ...
